I got into RC cars in December 2019. First I purchased a Traxxas Rustler to get a taste of a hobby grade RC car. Loved bashing with it for about a month! In Jaunary 2020 I took it down to my local RC club in Perth Western Australia to see how it was around a track. Had my first race in the Novice class and really enjoyed it…however I couldn't help but notice that other racers had these very “race” specific cars that looked so much faster and easier to drive.
I then researched into these race spec cars and finally purchased one in February 2020. My first ever RC race kit, the Team Associated B74 1/10 Scale 4WD Buggy! Such a joy to put your own kit together and set it up the way you want it. Learnt so much about the hobby and quickly became addicted to this joyful hobby.
Once it was built I had a couple more races with it at the same local track in late February, Novice class again. This time I was so much faster than the Rustler! I had to consider upgrading to the 4WD Stock Bugy class…but there was a big wall in my way!
BAM! Covid 19 hit our city and the club closed for 3 months! My heart was tore in 2! I finally found a hobby I really enjoyed, but couldnt enjoy any more racing because of this virus!
June 2020 the club finally opened up to some racing (Covid restrictions in place now). Started to race in the Stock class and was doing ok. Competition was a bit tougher than Novice.
By July when racing was back to normal without restrictions from Covid, I purchased a T6.1 Stadium Truck. This was to replace my Rustler with something a bit more race bred. This truck remains my favourite to this day!
By July 2021 I was in full swing of RC racing at several local clubs. Entered and podiumed several events from December 2020 to currently, including 3rd place in the WA State Titles 2020 for Stadium Truck Class. Became the Race Director at my local club and love that responsibilty bringing joy to running a club race meet for our members. I now own 6 RC cars (5 off road and 1 on road), and fully intend to keep at this hobby for years to come!
