I reflect on the past days of both racing the World Championships

As I am at the Sydney airport getting ready for #wheelsup back to the US, I reflect on the past days of both racing the World Championships and being part of the broadcast team and I want to share some highlights.

1. This was my first time ever being part of a WC as a racer, as we prepared for opening ceremonies. Brent Thielke the US Team Manager was announcing who would be the flag bearer and he gave a heartfelt speech stating the reasons why he chose a certain person for this honor and in the end that someone was me.  How surprised and absolutely honored I was to be selected to lead the US Team especially having my family Sarah Ann Due and Chad Due  also being there. To many this opportunity may sound trivial or nothing special but to me as a former service member and that RC has been everything in my and my families life for over 30 years, the honor of carrying our nations flag and lead our team was an incredible honor and privilege. Thank you BT for an unforgettable moment I will cherish forever.

2. Watching my daughter race at a WC. Sarahs childhood was surrounded with RC whether she wanted it or not. She learned to love RC and became very good at it. Watching her work so hard this week having fun and together sharing our love for the hobby was a priceless moment in my life.

3.  Being part of the RC Race Media. Tony Firth and Matt Seckold built up a dream team with the goal of producing the greatest coverage of a WC ever. Each person on the team with a different skill and together, we gave the RC Industry coverage like it has never seen. Thank you for asking me to be on the team and for being part of a broadcast that will be watched for decades! This team also includes you Chris Stanley 😝

4. Drivers introductions 4wd. For my Asian Buggy Championships, our team has come up with a format for introductions that give the A finalist a moment in the spotlight and builds up a great vibe with spectators before the finals. We incorporated this into our WC broadcast and I feel it elevated the event and really took it to a new level. We are sorry we could not do it for 2nd but time in the time schedule did not allow for us to do it.

5. Friendships and fans. I am very blessed to be able to do what I do and through my career, I have had the opportunity to meet so many fellow RC enthusiasts from around the globe that share the love of the hobby.  At events like this, I get to reconnect with many of them but also get the chance to meet many people who have followed me online or have been fans of my commentary  This is also a big highlight of any event I can be part of.

6. From Wisconsin Cheesehead to Worlds Finalist. This week I watched 2 young men who grew up learning RC in Wisconsin, perfect their craft and become top 10 racers in the World. I am so proud of Cole Tollard and Chase Lemieux it is difficult for me to express how proud I am of both of you. Well done!

7. Brands. I am very fortunate to be able to travel the World and be part of the RC Industry. I want to sincerely thank the brands that allow me to represent them in my off-road racing endeavors. Team Associated, Reedy Power, Avid Racing Concepts LLC , Sanwa Radios, 1up Racing, Arrowmax RC, StickitONE , PaintZilla : Custom R/C Paint By SarahAnn, Trackside Hobbies & Raceway

It was an unforgettable experience on so many levels and as I reflect on this event the memories I made with my family and friends will be with me forever.
