Well the official finalee ...
Huge thank you to Michel Peuziat and all the guys that contributed to putting on such a fantastic event! You did an amazing job and did yourselves proud 😁🏁🇫🇷
A big shout out to all the officials and scruitineers and race directors for all their hard work and not forgetting Pedro Pereira ...what a ref you are!!! Fantastic job all week!! And SLR RACING for some great photos so far and I'm sure MANY more to come!
Now onto the racing- well days 1 2 and 3 were practise, don't think we actually got a dry run in on either of these days we only got as far as slightly damp then it was wet again 🤣 no bother tho alfie-jack loves the wet tracks but no drifting was the instruction 🤣🤣 it's fun yes and looks good yes but it is slower! 3 days were spent learning the track, which was a challenge but so much fun too! Learn the lines, look at lap times and any set up changes.
Alfie-jack was more then happy with the car set up and had a great few days out on track with some pretty decent lap times getting consistent. Only had 1 mishap with the car which wasnt due to alfie it was just a part fail, the clutch bell had no weld on and the bell detached from the pinion mount ....but a replacement was sourced (thank you ian) and even got ours welded up trackside as a spare! Some one else alctually took more then us an packed a welder (thanks nick visser!) Car fixed and we were ready and raring to go for the qualifying!
Wednesday evening we had the opening ceremony followed by some food put on by the club and a few beers 🍻 and we was greeted with some sunshine 🌞 💛
Then it was time to prep the cars with the mounts ect for the new shells as we had ran our old shells during practise.
Thursday....yep it was wet but we are all still smiling and no wet track was gonna put a dampener on things for us!
3 rounds of qualifying Thursday followed by a 4th round Friday morning. After some great laps which were consistent with a great average time overall alfie got three 1st and one 2nd in his groups and some great times against the rest of the class which qualified him 5th overall ...straight into the semi finals 3rd on the grid.
Our target this year was for alfie-jack to make the semi finals straight off (so qualify in the top 14) as his 1st euros he made the 1/4s and bumped to the semis, and his 2nd euros he made the 1/4 and broke down.
Target met!!
Saturday morning came and it was time for the semi finals, after a 1 hr delay to give the team chance to dry off the track so it was a fair playing field (great job done by all)
Alfie needed to finish in the top 5 to make the main A final, it was a goal but no pressure just enjoy it and do your best. We he started in 3rd and after a 20 min race , which felt like a lifetime for mum!, he went n brought it home in 3rd place!!!! Space in front space behind ge ran a perfect race in his own little world ... go on boy!!!!
Alfie-jack in the MAIN A FINAL!!!!
Final time!!! Lining up 6th on the grid the job now was go out and enjoy every moment of this 30 minute race you've accomplished so much just enjoy this moment!
1st jump (which was the biggest one lol) he went abit wide on the corner following and may have fell off the track 🤔🙈 but straight back on and still with the other drivers but we had lost a few places, then the corner before the loop got knocked by another driver causing him to be marshalled so now he was 10th, so time to get ya head down and get in a rhythm and enjoy this race,
Well he did that and more ! Every lap then on was spot on, not one mistake and this showed as he climbed his way all the way back upto 4th position! Plenty of space behind as he was a lap up on 5th so no pressure from behind, 3rd wasn't a million miles away but as the race neared an end alfie jack was more then happy to just be in the A final let alone bring it home in 4th aswell! And top european junior champion 💙 🏁
What a result and what an achievement!!! Just 12 years old, so much to learn still, you never stop learning! And so much more to come from this lill chap !!! But for now we are so so happy to come home with these results and have such a fantastic time away racing!
