It's been a tough week at the European Championship

What can I say! It's been a tough week at the European Championship Large Scale Off Road 22-28th of July Hanvec 2024 at Auto Model Club de l'Ouest.

We knew we had good pace from practice but the weather conditions early on were making it difficult to really get a handle on what we needed, if I got a euro for every time I took off and re-installed the anti roll bars I would have been able to buy a croque monsieur for dinner every night 😂😂

Qualifying went well where we got a p3 in q1 in damp conditions and the in p2 the track dried out with the sun beating down and burning my legs! 😂 we managed to bank a p1 and with the rain setting in we took the decision to sit out q3 as the forecast for finals was dry and we wouldn't learn anything or improve and would just have a dirty race car! We went out for q4 Friday morning which was also wet and got another p3 to guarantee a p3 start and a p2 in my semi.

Last year we had heart break with a failure on the first lap so this year I was more focused on preparing the car and with the help from Ian Gardiner with his wealth of knowledge and work ethic we rebuilt and checked all 4 corners of the car whilst I tended to the gearboxes, I would never have been able to do it without you and I thankyou for helping me so much! We was just wanting to finish the semi in a respectable time and finished in p3 for the main final!.

The main final was all I ever wanted from a final, close racing throughout with the 4 front guys within 10 seconds of each other for the entire race not giving anyone any breathing room I don't know how I kept composure to bring it home in the biggest race of my life to date, I just wanted to make no mistakes which meant my laps times wouldn't be the fastest but I felt consistency would win this race. It was an amazing feeling crossing the loop as european champions and I could not do it without the support from my family!

My wife Natalie Letchford was there all week in my headset calming me down when I felt I wasn't capable of keeping it steady! She was my absolute rock and is by my side win or lose, if wasn't for her I wouldn't be able to drive all over Europe to play with toy cars!! I love you!! ❤️

My auntie and uncle with their mascot denzel the spaniel cheering me on come rain or shine throughout Europe they're always there!

Ian Gardiner for helping me keep my Elcon Models truxx in tip top condition all week so I didn't have to worry! Thank you!

To Verkoop Elcon for believing in me and supplying a team drive with new truxx platform

To Agfrc.com for the most bad ass servos, running the 45kg brushless servos for throttle/brake and the brand new 55kg standard size servos for steering duty supplied by Mark Higgins, the new steering servos were unbelievable with lightning fast response and they hold the steering angle required no matter what!! And at a price that doesn't require a new mortgage!!!

To Ian Oddie for supplying a badass engine, clutches and diffs that give the edge on race day!!

To Henk at evolution rc Holland for lending me a badass samba titanium pipe that gave plenty of power on the tight and Technical track at the amazing AMCO rc facility!

We're s/c European champions baby!!!! 🏆
