First European Championship of the year is in the books✔️
Everything started out very well on Friday where both the one lap speed and pace over longer run was great. I seeded 2nd after practice just 1 tenth behind Davide who was very strong as usual. My Cayote powered Xray XB8E’24 steered with Hitec servos was feeling amazing and I was confident going into qualifying.
Saturday came and the situation changed very quickly for me. A decent opening round with an 8th place was followed by some struggles.. A dead transponder which the time keeping didn’t pick up on, resulted in a DNF for round 2.
Still knowing my package was working well I was in the fight for TQ in round three but another car ruined the chances for me 2 times during the run loosing 10 seconds. Not directly his fault but he crashed 2 times right in front of me which flipped my car over.
Instead of looking for a good starting position I was instead looking to just make the main. I decided to stick with Amazzonias for the last round which in the end was a mistake. They were a bit edgy and I flipped over, wrong call by me as I should have followed the trend to go on bar tires.
Qualified 13th, and would start first in the LCQ. I put the Saharas on and made a few adjustments. Took a few laps to get used to the feeling but the car was much easier and I could cruise to win and take the last spot on the grid for the A-main. Had some good fights in the A-main but was involved in some chaos in the starts and wasn’t really able to pull off a great first 2-3min to get further up the field. I would finish 9th, 7th, 10th to get 10th overall.
Once again my package was working really well as was shown in practice but also with Xray having the most cars in the main. Personally I just need to keep on pushing, hard work will always pay off at the end and I will try to get rid of the gremlins and stay away from trouble in qualifying next time.
Special thanks goes to Martin, Max and Rafal for helping out in the pits this weekend!
I would like to thank the club and organisation for a very well organised race, everything ran smooth and great adjustments to the schedule was made to let us finish the race in dry conditions which none of us expected! 🙏
Congratulations to Davide Ongaro for his win and to my team mates Bruno for 3rd place, Noha and Remy for their great results in the A-mains and for the 1-2 finish in the junior final👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks to all my sponsors for your support!
