Great start of the 2024 season!

The first race of the season started in Linköping at the Sviestad track. This is a track that I have been comfortable with and had many successes here before. I tried the track the evening before the race and they had added some course material, almost gravel, that made it very slippery but also pretty hard on the car.

I have always used Micro studs on this track but now I tested a couple of different options and decided to go with medium Astro Max as the best compromise on the clay, astro and loose dirt.

The qualifying heat started good but 8 minutes in the car didn't roll freely  and I suspected right away I got a stone in the rear differential. I really pushed the throttle to try to get it free and I succeeded after a while. In the break between heats I removed the diff and surely there was a fairly big stone in there which had grinned the diff case.

The 1/8 final started good and I was leading comfortable when the diff locked up and I could get it to roll freely. I had to run down from the driver stand to free up the diff. Lost valuable time but was still in the lead when it happened again and I had to run down again. This time more cars passed me and I was sure I lost my lead but in the end I was still winning thanks to having had such a great race before getting into problems.

Again I found a stone in the diff when removing it and now I needed to do something. I had already fabricated a lexan shield but there were still holes where tones could enter. I cut some plastic pieces from the lid  of a butter box. Sometimes you have to be inventive ;)

In the quarter final I had another great race. I was hearing a grinding noise and started suspecting that another stone but this time it disappeared so it could have been something else. The track was now greeting a little bit rougher but I was very consistent in the driving and make no real mistakes.

During lunch I made sure to cover some more holes that I found out, now I felt sure nothing else could get into the diff. So now it's up to me to just drive and not making any mistakes.

The semifinal went great without any incidents what so ever a solid race where I was leaping the whole field except the second driver.

Having won all the heats I had full points and started in pole for the 20 minutes A-final. Right after the start I heard another start sound and I thought it was a restart si I slowed down the car while everyone else was continuing racing. It turned out another driver never got away from the starting line and it became a little bit chaotic but the race was on. I was now in the end of the field but climbed all the way to second place after one lap and then took the lead on the second lap. After that I got in a really good rhythm and I almost beat my own fastest lap of the day even if the track was in worse shape.

In the end I won with 4 laps over second place. I don't think I have ever won with such a big margin but the Ultron felt awesome, the RN Tuning engine has all the power and RPM I need and the NRP Powergrip clutch gives me the control to feel very comfortable in all situations. The hole package is very solid and to be honest performs way better than the MCD cars which could handle the track as well. You can watch the full A-final video here.

When I looked at the average lap times in the last three heats (12 minutes long except the final that is 20 min) of the day they were: 0:35:508, 0:35:519, 0:35:531. Only differs on hundreds of a second even if the track got bumpier, which is amazing consistency that I'm very happy about. Quick lap times and consistency together is a hard to beat combo.

New for this season is team merch, T-sthirt, hoodie jacket and baseball hat. Gray and orange has now set to be my colors, the orange comes from the House of RC logo and gray is just a great complimentary color that together screams racing. I'm very happy with how the design turned out and would really recommend Vulfram in Estonia for custom sportswear.

A great start of the season with full 200 points and a very solid win, with the fastest lap with over a second better than second fastest lap.

In the beginning of the race there was some confusion and I thought the signal sounded twice for a restart, that's why I almost stopped. But the race was on and I just need to get my head down and climb the field. This is why the first half lap is such a chaos.
