The first major 1/8 race of 2024 is in the books.

It was an exciting Southern Indoor Championships to kick off the 1:8 Season in the USA.

Most of the top pro drivers were in attendance with the exception of a few that chose not to attend. As well as the top pros there were racers from all over the USA and some racers from Mexico, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. This would make for a great race for all!

With a very busy Silly Season for the top guys with drivers debuting thier new chassis, engine and tire companies products that they switched too at the end of the 2023.

Qualifying would set the tone as we saw some surprises and in the pro class. Team Associated’s Lee Setser taking the TQ in the Pro Ebuggy class with some very impressive runs over his 3 qualifiers.

In Pro Truggy Ryan Maifield would take the TQ but SWORKz driver Camden Lime would be very fast taking 2nd overall after a Q3 TQ run.

Pro Nitro Buggy was also a battle as Tyler Jones in his Sparkly Sparko would take a dominating Q2 TQ run and 3rd in Q3. This would allow him to start 2nd overall to Dakotah Phend who would take the TQ and Brandon Rose would start 3rd after a brilliant run in Q3 to finish 2nd.

The 30 min Pro Truggy would be very exciting with a battle to the very end. Dakotah Phend, Ryan Maifield and Camden Lime would battle it out the entire race swapping positions and the lead between the 3 of them but in the end it would be Dakotah Phend in his TLR Truggy would be victorious with Lime 2nd and Ryan Maifield in 3rd. It was an epic battle to the end with a great push by Lime to challenge Phend!!

As the 30 min Pro Nitro Buggy main was about to start there was an aura in the air that something special was going to happen! The start of the main saw a breakaway of 3 cars Phend, Rose and Maifield. The lead would swap between those 3. BRose was taking lines that Phend and Maifield were not able to do themselves and on the 13th lap he would take the lead and never look back! At the end of the 30 mins it would be Rose, Phend thenMason Fuller in 3rd in his new SWORKz ride, Maifield would finish 4th and with a respectable top 5 for Tyler Jones and the Sparko.

Pro Ebuggy was double A Finals and in A1 Dakotah Phend would take the win followed by Mason Fuller and Ryan Maifield. A2 Maifield would come out swinging after not having the nitro buggy tirade he wanted he put on an absolute clinic in A2 dominating the field. That run would give him first overall followed by Dakotah Phend and Mason Fuller in 3rd.
