2023 IFMAR World Championships @ Hobby Action RC Raceway
I’ve had the time to reflect, recoup, and recover from a weeks long event on the biggest stage in RC racing.
Kickin’ off with the racing, the words that roll off begin with close, intense, and emotional. The nerves were intense, the emotions ran higher for myself than normal, and the field was glued together with the best racers in the industry. 4wd went well. I had small issues at the start of qualifying but got it figured out by the end. When quals were done, I’d line up 7th in the mains but climbed my way to 4th overall capped with excellent positional drives that are to be proud of. 2wd, I had an awesome car, a winning worthy car, it began to click late in qualifying but hopes and dreams were crushed when I got a shim off the track lodged in the motor during the warm up of Q4. Q5 was a solid round TQ and I’d line up 4th for the mains. A1, I got caught up in the whoops, it was racing, two lines connected. I took myself out of that one. A2, I drove timid and never found my stride, I’d finish 3rd in that main. A3, once again, timid, I allowed the leader to gap out and had to fight it out for 2nd. I’d walk away 3rd overall 🥉 I felt I had just a bit more I could’ve squeezed out of myself on main day in 2wd but we fight on and 3rd is certainly something worth holding my head high for.
I’d like to thank my sponsors for what they poured into the event. Firstly, Tris, he worked his butt off to get the prototype Ld3 ready. Robin and Muz back at the #Schumacher factory. Jurgen from #LRP, coming to the USA to handle all power needs. Jason, Allison, Paul, Tyler and Hannah from #JConcepts, Thomas from #MKS, Clu and his family from #WhitzRacingProducts, Erik from #EZCustomsPainting, Barry from #SDDesignz, as well as #CoreRC, #TrishBits, #EatonsIntermountainRaceway. And to my friends, family, and girlfriend, thank you!
