The 2023 IFMAR Worlds is over and I took some time to rest
Report from
IFMAR WC 1/10 ELECTRIC OFF ROAD 2023
The 2023 IFMAR Worlds is over and I took some time to rest and recover with the family. Overall, a great experience at the event and Hobby Action went above and beyond for everyone in attendance. The atmosphere and facility was rocking all week throughout 4wd and 2wd sessions of the event.
________
As usual, the track conditions were tough to get a complete handle on so consistency was key. I had great seeding runs and some good qualifiers, but ultimately I was unable to reach the expectations I had for myself. After several bad runs and some breakage, I finished in the C-Final of 4wd. I recovered and qualified 8th and finished 9th in 2wd for a little better finish to the event.
________
It was great to have a lot of personal support from my sponsors with JConcepts, Protek RC, and Hobbywing in attendance. Tekno RC with Daniel and Matt even came in to get a look at the event and we spent some time having a great dinner during one of the off nights. Staying at home for a worlds was definitely different, but we made adjustments along the way to make sure it still had that big race feel and maintained great focus on the event.
________
Mike Truhe and I worked extremely hard to get as competitive as possible making changes every run. Round 5 of 2wd qualifying was a make or break run to make the A-final. I had a great car during that run and just stayed smooth and quick as possible to end the round with a 4th. One of my best qualifiers at Hobby Action and less than 1 second off TQ. It felt good and with enough pace to be a good race car in the finals.
________
Unfortunately, things did not go as planned in the finals and finished 9th overall. Congratulations to the 2 winners, Davide Ongaro in 4wd and Tater Sontag in 2wd. Also, a shoutout to Spencer Rivkin finishing 2nd in both and Michel Orlowski 3rd in 4wd and Broc Champlin 3rd in 2wd.
