Well that's another euros under our belt! And what a week it was.... Alfie drove brilliantly all week, due to the weather conditions on Thursday qualifying was cut down to 2 rounds and your best 1 to count and due to the weather expected for Saturday all finals were ran on Friday. Alfie qualified into the 1/4 finals.... he has hoped for higher but it wasn't over yet there was Still room.for a bump up so we went into the 1/4 finals hopeful and planned to run a smooth and steady race and hope for a top 3 finish .... he was running well then got an unfortunate spin n got caught up on the piping loosing him a few places... all was not over tho he kept going making back a couple of places and made it all the way back up to 4th untill the dreaded happened ....the car cut out. Retrieving the car very quickly alfies mechanics (grandad and jack) tried to see what the problem was...all seemed OK with the car they got it started and Alfie was back out ... 1 more lap and it cut out again ... again the car was restarted and he went back out but he didn't get very far and it cut out again we now new this was the time.for the car to retire, and the end of the race was only seconds away. Alfie jack was absolutely gutted, as we all were but that's racing and sometimes it doesn't always go to plan but alfie will dust himself off and pick himself up and we will carry on and come back stronger! Not the results he was after, he wanted to make the semi finals atleast but we will keep aiming high and keep going!
On further inspection that evening we found the fuel line had snapped off just inside the fuel tank which is why the car was u able to get fuel. Such a small thing which can end a race!
Alfie jack still came home with the European junior champion trophy 🏆 and we will try again next year in France.
