1987 was my first off-road World Championship entry.
We brought in a Schumacher CAT made in England which had been fine-tuned and practiced for about a year, but there was already a new model with a long wheelbase were running on the race track.

but,

Mr. Naomi Tomita, who asked to Mr. Cecil Schumacher that "Anyway, I want you to see Masami's driving during practice session. And if you think this boy can win the race, I don't care if it's a spare car, so please provide one to Masami. Masami can win even with a spare car."

And also we were eating at a restaurant on the eve of the qualifying, Mr. Shigeru Kinoshita, who was the manager at the time said "Present for you!" and he delivered to me the latest special car received from Schumacher.

Participated in the race without practice running, only trimming and steering angle adjustment were performed on the side of the track.

Scored the top finish in both the qualifying and the final and won the championship. The winning car name is, 
"SCHUMACHER CAT XL".

1987年、オフロードでは初めての世界選手権参加だった。
我々は約1年間にわたり調整と練習を重ねて仕上げてきたイギリス製のシュマッカーCATを持ち込んだが、現地では既にロングホイールベース化された新型車が走っていた。

しかし、

「とにかく練習時に正美の走りを見てほしい。そしてこいつなら勝てると思ったら、予備カーで構わないから正美に1台提供してやって欲しい。正美なら予備カーでも勝てるから」と事前にシュマッカー社へ連絡を入れてくれていた富田直美氏と、現地でシュマッカー社へかけあい、予選の前夜にレストランで食事をしていた広坂に「プレゼントフォーユー！」と言って、シュマッカー社より受け取った最新マシンを届けてくれた当時のマネージャー、木下繁氏のお陰で手に入れることが出来た組み立て済みのシュマッカー最新鋭ワークスマシン。

トリムと舵角調整だけをコースわきで行い、練習走行無しでレースに参加。

予選、決勝共にトップゴールして優勝した
『SCHUMACHER CAT XL』。
