West Suffolk Model Car Club
The club was born in 2009 when it took over from the long-established Bury Buggy Club. These days we primarily race 1/12th scale Mardave Mini (Brushed and 2S Brushless) buggies (honeycomb tyres and shock tower guards mandatory) along with GT12. We race indoors on PrimaFelt carpet nearly every Monday evening of the year. Most drivers arrive between 5:30 and 6:00pm and we are all done and cleared away by 10:00pm. Our venue is situated in Risby, about 5 miles west of Bury St Edmunds and roughly 2 mins off the A14. The race area is approx 20x12m, we run a full AMB computerised lap timing system and track layouts are changed each week to keep driving interesting. On a normal club night drivers can expect 3 rounds of heats and 1 final. As well as the obvious racing, the club also runs a small spares shop for Mardave car parts and there is tea, coffee chocolates and cold snacks available too. We are a very friendly club and pride ourselves on welcoming new drivers. More experienced drivers will also get a healthy challenge from some of our top drivers as well so we can cater for everyone.
